Two female police officers were sexually assaulted and 74 officers were injured during the Notting Hill Carnival, London’s Metropolitan Police has said.
Hundreds of thousands of people attended the carnival on Sunday and Monday—the first time it has been held since 2019 because of COVID-19 restrictions in the last two years.
But the event was marred by violence and criminal activities. A 21-year-old man was stabbed to death, and 6 non-fatal stabbings were reported.
A total of 209 arrests were made during the 2-day event, including 46 for assault, 36 for possession of drugs, 33 for possession of an offensive weapon, 27 public order offences, and 8 sexual assaults….
